Reminder that tomorrow we are at at The Rose Hotel, Chippendale - we have the room from 6pm with formalities from 7 pm.

Jorge Hernández-Urcera is a Senior Scientist at the Marine Research Institute (IIM-CSIC) in Vigo, Spain. His research focuses on the ecology and conservation of seahorses, ecological studies of cephalopods and aquaculture projects aimed at sustainable marine resource management. He integrates scientific diving, habitat monitoring, and ecological restoration to advance the sustainable management of marine biodiversity. He will join us to talk about his research into Seahorses (Hippocampus spp.).

In Spain, innovative approaches are being developed to improve knowledge and foster recovery of local populations. He will discuss two ongoing projects, coordinated by the Marine Research Institute (IIM-CSIC). The first, HippoDEC, is a citizen science initiative that integrates observations from divers and coastal communities to map seahorse distribution and monitor population trends along the Spanish coast.
