Middle Head worth another look

I remmeber when the URG found Dee Why Wide (foundby Mathew after mush research), Colours Wall (found by accident when I anchoredonwriong spot) and Red Indian Fish (foundonadvisefrom a JB club mmeber) and where first shown Magic Point (by Fisheries to do shark counts) after we had looked for years for the shark cave that the spearos knew about, and another club told us about Bondi Wall. These sites where then totally or mostly unknown. Now they are regular dive sites used by us and commercial operators who saw us there and asked or looked for themselves.

Who remmebers this exploritory dive below? I think Middle Head is worth another look as its nothtat far from the Pearl of the Harbour. Just need our boat and an incoming tide. Any interest?

Middle Head by Janet
On the surface.
Wet, dark day, so dark the light was flashing on the Hornby Light House.
Middle Head was the only sheltered spot we could see.

Underwater
Depth 13m, visibilty 20m, water 20 degress - so brilliant we stayed down for 74 mins in semi dry suites.
Rocks slope down from the cliff edge and it's one big nursery for hundreds of fish.
These are the fish I saw that I can recognise, but there were a lot of the silver ones that wiz by so fast I have trouble with their identity (I apologise if the following names are spelt incorrectly).
Yellow Tail, Long Fin Pike, Maori wrasse, Cromson wrasse (male and female), Blue Groper, Sydney cardinal fish, Eastern smooth box fish (female), Yellow box fish (juvenile, so cute), Bulls eyes, Ladder fin pomfrets, Flute mouth, Eastern Hula fish, Mado, Sergent baker, Rock cod (on steroids, he was huge), Red Morwong, Snapper, Six spined leather jacket, Bream, White Trevally (juvenile), White ear, Black spot goat fish, Comb wrasse.

The nudis there were...

Chromodoris splendida
Chromodoris tompsoni (must be the time of year for seeing these)
Pteraeolidia iantha.

The best bit was in our last few minutes on the bottom. A big crowd of Yellow tail swimming by us all at once shot off all in the same direction, we stopped to watch to see who had spooked them and then along came 2 middle sized Kingy's who then swam a few circles around us. What a treat, a very nice way to spend mother's day.
