Hi there, I have found your website when looking for a new club to dive with, and it just so happens that I live only a couple of minutes walk from the Great Northern which will make it very easy to come to club meetings, plus you have your own boat, I think this could be a match made in heaven! The purpose for my post is three-fold, firstly to introduce myself, secondly to ask if it would be ok to attend the meeting next Wednesday night (18th) and thirdly (if I could be so bold) is see if I could discuss with you an offer of my services to 'update' the website and possibly give it a fresh coat of paint as part of providing some assistance as a (hopefully, soon to be club member). Well on the introduction side, my name is Adam, and after an 8 year hiatus I have started diving again in a rapid fashion (I think at current pace I will clock up 80-100 dives this year) and am subsequently look for a group of people to go diving with, and maybe make this habit a little cheaper if your club is offering dives at $30 a pop! I'll also note that I have 3 close friends, all very keen divers as well and we range in experience from 50 dives through to ~250, so a decent spectrum. Two of us also hold boat licenses and are aiming to do our DM course early next year which hopefully is a plus. So all things being equal I would love to get them involved as well and hopefully help grow the member numbers a little. I hope my request for attendance at next weeks meeting is ok?, and I will endeavour to bring (at least) one of my friends with me. Thirdly, (and reconising this is my first post and i'm jumping in the deep end, but my wife tells me i'm incapable of easing into anything!) I would love to have a chat with you about potentially offering my services to review the website, get a couple of people I know with some web skills to neaten things up and hopefully make it very user friendly and to provide an electronic dive calendar/schedule that is easy to engage with and hopefully encourage some more people to come diving. From what i've read here it seems like you have a fantastic combination of boat and towing vehicle and some great members working to keep the club going and I look forward to speaking with some of you next week. That is, of course, if I haven't been too bold on my first post! Regards Adam

hi, members, I have joined this club to enjoy diving with different people & also, of course, to expect to join in regular diving activities with members. However, it seems that the club doesn't have a monthly diving plan on web site or members dive with themselves. All information that I can find from website is a bit old, looked like that it hasn't been updated for a while Please, announce or put up any diving schdule on website so that other members can join with you like me. This year, the URG will be diving in Truk Lagoon - Micronesia, departing 3rd October 2008. Truk Lagoon is considered the wreck diving mecca of the world and on many to do lists of keen divers.
We will be diving of the liveaboard "SS Thorfin" to maximise our time underwater (Nitrox is available at additional cost)

Hey divers and divettes, Was reading the latest dive magasine and there was a write -up on a new movie Sharkwater which will be coming out May15th. I checked the website: 'http://www.sharkwater.com/'>http://www.sharkwater.com/ and the trailer looks good! So should we perhaps organise a dinner and a movie around the date of movie release? We gotta support people that are looking out for the sharks (especially this movie producer...sounds like it wasn't a walk in the park to produce it...) Hi everyone, At the AGM, a few ideas were given re: guest speakers.....examples:

Police divers

"Nudibrach person" from the museum

Perhaps a guest speaker from the gov't dep't (i.e. Fisheries, Grey Nurse stuff)

Jan was going to look up something about some research going on by RTA at Swansea Bridge

Sales reps (i.e. SeaQuest, Dry suits.....)

John West re: shark attack files in Sydney ( he was unable to make it for our meeting tonight).

Learning about buying/selling on ebay

Somebody mentionned someone by the name "Steve Perisher"....not sure what he does, but if this sounds familiar and ur interested, let me know....
